What is Kaprow's main argument?

Kaprow’s main argument in this essay is that art is everywhere and can be made from anything, even to the point that everyday life actions can become art. He seems to focus specifically on the action, and how it affects him or what he notices after a period of time. Kaprow also seemed intrigued by how the small act of brushing his teeth led him to bigger and different thoughts throughout the piece. He is also working on erasing or smearing the line between what is life and what is art.

How does the reading relate to theme of the class/ how might it help you make art?

When the readers realize his argument some, like myself, might start to think about what he is saying and how it ties into their life. What actions do they do that could be considered art? Could the action of just typing on a keyboard be considered art, could reading a book, could walking up and down stairs? The possibilities are endless. This relates to our class because our class, to my knowledge, deals with expanding on art and looking on it a different way. Especially with how pieces tied to time can be related to art, and his idea of a repetitive action could be a way of expressing time or time based art. This also relates to how in class we discussed that one verb can be looked at in many different ways.

Do any verbs or actions stick out to you in this reading?

How he described brushing his teeth really stood out to me, that he would watch his arm move up and down and how he could feel the tax the repetitive actions were taking on his body. He was able to discuss how over a few weeks he could feel differences in himself that he might not have noticed prior, and that was incredibly interesting to me.
